MISHWARA
dyed, cut & sewn in the heart of the sahara
Our Story
Born out of a desire to bring vibrant Mauritanian textiles to the diaspora, Mishwara was co-founded by three sisters in 2024. Mishwara (hassaniya for headscarf) is deeply influenced by the vivid color palettes and contours of Mauritanian culture. Ethically sourced from Nouakchott Mauritania, Mishwara scarves are dyed, cut and sewn in the heart of the Sahara desert.
Our Salad Collection is an homage to the vibrant heritage of West African artistry. Salad is a traditional dying technique found in Mauritania used to create a vibrant blend of colors. The unstructured dying method creates an abstract lively feel. Each piece is unique, with colors bleeding and merging in ways that defy replication. Salad dyeing is a living art form that celebrates Mauritanian culture through color, form, and heritage, blending the past and present into garments that speak to identity, beauty, and pride.
